Ages 3+

Dance Classes for Children in Leeds

At Katie Louise School of Dance, children can discover a love of dance from age 3 and continue developing their skills as they grow.

Based at Aberford Village Hall in East Leeds, KLSOD has been teaching young dancers since 2005. We combine high-quality dance training with the friendly, family feel that has always been at the heart of our school.

Whether your child is trying dance for the first time, developing their technique or looking for opportunities to perform and compete, there's a place for them at KLSOD.

Growing with Us

Dance Classes from Age 3

Dancers progress through KLSOD from our youngest classes through Junior, Inter and Senior levels, developing their skills and confidence as they grow.

Every dancer develops at their own pace. Our classes provide a supportive environment where children can enjoy dancing while building technique, musicality, performance skills and confidence.

All of our dance disciplines are available across our age groups, giving dancers the opportunity to experience different styles and develop into versatile performers.

What We Teach

Find Your Dance Style

Ballet

Ballet provides the technical foundation that supports so many other forms of dance. KLSOD dancers develop posture, control, coordination, musicality and classical technique as they progress through their training.

Ballet also forms an important part of our competition pathway, with competition dancers required to continue their ballet training.

Tap

Tap combines dance, rhythm and musicality, teaching dancers to create precise rhythms through footwork while developing coordination, timing and performance skills.

Modern

Modern dance combines technical training with energetic, expressive movement. Classes help dancers develop flexibility, strength, coordination and confidence while exploring a broad range of movement.

Lyrical

Lyrical combines dance technique with expressive movement and storytelling. Dancers learn to interpret music and emotion through performance while building on the control and technique developed in their wider training.

Character

Character dance combines performance, storytelling and theatrical movement, giving dancers opportunities to explore different characters, styles and ways of expressing themselves on stage.

Acro

Acro develops strength, flexibility, balance and controlled acrobatic skills alongside dance technique. Classes help dancers safely build the physical ability and confidence needed to incorporate acrobatic movement into performance.

Song and Dance

Song and Dance combines singing, dancing and performance, helping young performers develop confidence across multiple areas of the performing arts.

Beyond the Weekly Lesson

More Than Dance Classes

Being part of KLSOD means more than attending a weekly lesson.

Performance is an important part of developing confidence and stagecraft, and all KLSOD students take part in our shows. Students can also work towards IDTA examinations as they develop their technique and progress through their training.

For dancers who want to take their performance further, KLSOD also has a Competition Team taking part in local festivals and competitions throughout Yorkshire.

Since 2005

A Dance School with a Family Feel

KLSOD has been part of the local community since 2005, and the family feel of the school remains central to everything we do.

We want young dancers to feel supported, encouraged and excited about coming to class — whether they're taking their first steps at age three or preparing for examinations, shows and competitions as a Senior dancer.
